A.M.A.R.U.L.A  C.O.F.F.E.E!!!

It was one of those afternoons when I was discussing travel and discoveries with a friend, and he asked me if I had ever tried Amarula Coffee. Clearly gobsmacked, I mentioned it twice for emphasis that I had never had it. He went on to explain that the drink Amarula is used as the creamer for the coffee and has South Africa origin. I was no more a coffee drinker, as I had since switched to teas, hence I told him unfortunately I would not be able to try it and give a verdict. He went on to tell me how it was his “go to” drink while travelling and he had introduced several people to the joys of it.

One beautiful Saturday afternoon, I went grocery shopping and saw Amarula on the shelves, I grabbed a small bottle and just for the fun of it, I also grabbed a tin of instant coffee. I decided to experiment as my friend hadn’t stopped asking if I had attempted the exotic beverage.

That evening, swiftly becoming a chemist, I brought out my giant coffee mug, my spatula(spoon), my sealed bottle of Amarula and my instant coffee tin, not forgetting a kettle of hot water. Within minutes I mixed a potent brew of coffee and Amarula…. The taste and aroma was definitely out-of-this-world. It has since become my weekend “go to”.  Amarula has alcohol so definitely not a brew for work days – my disclaimer. Lol
