Hey Travel Lover
Do you incorporate massage therapy into your relaxation routine? Do you think massage is a luxury? Would you try a bubble massage?
History has shown that even the finest of poets lack the right words to capture certain other worldly experiences. I believe a bubble massage is one of such things that are best understood when experienced.
Almost every time I’m planning a trip you can be sure I’ve tried to sneak a massage appointment into my itinerary. I always check if spa facilities are mentioned in the hotel or the environs, review online comments and decide if it’s a yay or a nay.
My trip to Istanbul was no different, I had heard about bubble massage and I was intrigued to try it out. I was to embark on the journey with a friend (who sadly missed the trip) and she had circled several places for us to review. I reviewed her selections and zeroed in on Cagaloglu Hamami. It looked really fancy even though it was a public bath. While going through the online catalogue I picked the thirty-five minutes bubble massage service among other treats. I figured, why not stay in the bubble for as long as possible. Appointment booked, I couldn’t wait for the experience.
When I arrived at the public bath, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the ambience was breathtaking. After form filling protocols, I was assigned a private room and given a key. The room had toiletries, a bottle of water and a beautiful body wrap (really wish I bought one when I was leaving the spa). I was asked for my foot size and a slip on was brought (which I was gifted). I asked if I could take some pictures, being a public bath and I was told when the opportunity presents itself I could. And present itself, it did…
Then, it was time to begin… the first part was fifteen minutes in the sauna or “hot room rest” as they called it, where I met a lady from Singapore who was on her honeymoon and her first trip after Covid. Then after fifteen minutes, my personal attendant arrived. She took me by the hand- as you would a child- and led me to a tap where hot and cold water was poured on me simultaneously, I couldn’t explain how she was achieving this feat as she had just one bowl…. Oh well, the mystery of it. The next step was ten minutes of body scrub; this was rinsed off as well.
Finally, it was time for thirty-five minutes of bubble massage. The bubble solution was in a bucket, then a pillow-case like cloth was dipped in the solution and brought out. My attendant swished this pillow case from side to side then squeezed it from top to bottom to envelope me in bubbles. This was done about three or four times, then I was massaged in the sea of bubbles, I dozed off in this cloud nine. I was gently woken up when my time was up and taken to the mysterious hot and cold tap to rinse the bubbles off. I intentionally tuned my mind to the hot and cold sensation to confirm if the first time was a fluke, alas it wasn’t. I was handed a fresh robe and taken to a luxurious tent for Turkish delights, tea and some rest before my last treat; a forty-five minutes’ aromatherapy massage
My attendant gave me a present while I was feasting on a mini fruit tray after the massage. It was an exhilarating experience and I felt pampered and so fresh afterwards. Would I indulge in another bubble massage if the opportunity arises? Of course!!!

Bubble Massage...
I am intrigued by the story. You made it sound so tempting. Can't wait to experience the bubble massage. Is it available in other cities?
Oh my lord! Ah ah! It’s like I was with you on this trip o.
Reading about that bubble massage was soooo pleasant! And the hot and cold water feel.
I schedule massages in Lagos but I’ve not yet had the opportunity to get one out of the country, now I know it’s something to look forward to.
Ps: Ajalaress, thank you for writing so well. 😁 I could almost see the Singaporean lady and all the treats.
