Hey Travel Lover
Are you a selfie Queen or King? Are you proficient in the act of taking selfies? Would you rather a selfie than a picture of you taken by someone else?
I have tried several times to up my selfie game but alas….it keeps being below par☺️🤣😂 I thought, ok, maybe it’s my phone. I’ve come to realize it’s not. I just need to get the technique right. I’ve had several tutors yet I’ve still not passed the course…Hopefully one day I’ll make them proud.
I like to capture moments of my trips these days. There was a time in the past that I didn’t take pictures. Maybe I wanted to rely on my photographic brain🤣😂. I’ve lost so many memories because I didn’t capture them. I remember speaking with my sister before this article. She recalled a time when she travelled to Iceland with a group of people and most of them only captured nature pictures (pictures of the mountains, waterfall, glaciers). Unlike the others, she chose to capture lovely pictures of herself in Iceland. She looks at those pictures now with nostalgia and fondness. Do you capture your memories?
Travelling with a group or a friend is one thing, travelling solo is another kettle of fish. I remember a friend who travelled solo for the first time this year. Notable mentions to my humble self 😌 (I was her main inspiration for that trip…thank you, thank you…). Back to the matter, this said friend has mostly selfies of the trip as she couldn’t muster up the courage to ask a fellow tourist or anybody else to take a picture🤣🤭🤔 It does take courage to ask though..
I visited the Winnipeg Art Gallery in February 2023…as the budding art enthusiast that I am, alone. It was a stone throw from my hotel and it came up recommended by Google. There were so many beautiful things to see and I could capture them alright. The trouble however came when I tried to insert myself in the picture….selfie time. You already know my proficiency level, zero, zip, nada. I took some selfies though, be the judge🤣🤭☺️
For the records I approached one of the guards to take me a picture, his response, a resounding NO. It still shocks me till date. Anyways, I continued with my selfies and scene captures until I saw another guard. If you were me, would you ask the guard to take pictures? Once bitten, forever shy?
I asked the second guard if he could take pictures of me and some paintings, I was already expecting the worst and he utters “Yes of course, where would you like your picture taken?” I am still dancing in excitement as I remember.
How many times has your persistence paid off? He followed me around for a bit taking pictures and when we passed the first guard, I believe I had a victory smirk on my face. I still wonder why he acted in such an unfriendly manner….oh life🤔
So Travel Lover, are you a selfie Queen or King? Do you prefer selfie shots or shots captured by another? Would you visit the Winnipeg Art Gallery when in Winnipeg? Let us see your responses in the comments section.

For the Love of Selfies...
I’ll call you “selfie royal” as you are slowly making your way to Queen 🤩 Love the selfies you have in this article, I’ll rate them an 8 out of 10, and like you said, some people really take selfies to a whole new level. Especially those that can take a selfie with a large group 🤓
So glad your persistence paid of. I’m like you, I ask and even go a step further to look at the picture before I conclude the picture transaction 😂🤣 retakes are necessary when you ask some people. Maybe I wish they’d have said no in the first place 🤭
Thanks for sharing this travel tip. I’ll be sure to document my slay, on my next vacation 😎🤩
