Hey Travel Lover
Sometimes, even the best laid plans can go awry….what do you do when this happens?
A quote by an unknown author says, “just yell Plot Twist and move on”. How many times have you consciously or subconsciously yelled “Plot Twist” and moved on? I can count plenty😁
I remember my visit to Geneva in 2022, I couldn’t wait to see all Geneva had to offer. The sights and sounds I imagined were as beautiful as they were beckoning. Then came the rain, in torrents🤭 and as is with most of my trips, I didn’t have so long to spend in town. I had a hearty and nourishing breakfast, thinking the rain would subside, or at least the clouds would smile at me….alas, the rain continued in its steady tempo like my breakfast bribe meant nothing😔😂
Oh well, seeing as I couldn’t sit in my room all day, I decided on a tour bus, not the “hop on, hop off” kind. It was a nice comfy bus, and you visited the tourist attractions without the fear of some rain pellets hitting you. The downside was that you didn’t get to come down and explore as much as you would with the hop on hop off.
I sat comfortably at the back, plugged in my headset, switched to the English channel, while turning my head left and right as directed by the audio guide to take in the sights of several NGOs and International Organizations Offices, too numerous to mention. I tried to capture some of them from my window, but the rain droplets on the window didn’t help matters.
One thing to note whilst visiting Geneva, if the Palace of Nations - United Nations Office - is on your itinerary, do well to book way ahead of time. I didn’t know this, so sadly, I learned the hard way😊
There is a gigantic three-legged chair in front of the United Nations Office,it is called the Broken Chair. It serves as a symbol of opposition to landmines. Here, I asked the driver if I could come down and take a picture as we were to stop for about two to three minutes to admire it anyway. There was an interview going on under the Broken Chair, I quickly asked a fellow tourist to assist with the photo, all the while keeping my eyes on the bus so he didn’t zoom off without me. 😂
Picture taken, safely back in the bus, we continued our tour and saw the Parc des Eaux-Vives, this is a beautiful park, here we also stopped for about three minutes for pictures then, we drove past the jet d’eau (water jet) and the Flower Clock. The clock is strikingly amazing, and the flower colors vibrant. I loved it immediately.
As we finished the tour, the rain decided to do some good and stopped completely. I couldn’t resist walking back to take a picture and see at close range the flower clock and a gorgeous water fountain close by. I took as many pictures as my battery power allowed me and went on another tour….story for another day🤭
So, Travel Lover, how many times have you yelled “Plot Twist” and moved on? How did it work out for you? Is Geneva on your bucket list? Let us see your responses in the comments section.

Plot Twist...
Nice summary of the tour. Is the giant chair made of wood though...I'm curious.
The rain didn't look like it affected you. So your plot didn't twist entirely 😜😜. Is that gaint chair made of wood???
