Hey Travel Lover
A quote by Anthony Hincks says “Look with open eyes, and you will see the beauty of the waterfall.” Have you seen a waterfall up-close? Do you consider waterfalls beautiful? What feelings do they trigger?
My love for travel definitely emanated from my parents. My dad loved to travel and my mom still loves to travel. I always looked forward to holidays when I was younger as we would, more often than not, get to go on road trips that were undoubtedly fun…..hmmmm, memories!!!
One such holiday, I can’t remember the exact year, we travelled with my dad to the northern part of Nigeria. He had a conference in Kaduna at the end of the week but we left the southern part of the country at the beginning of the week. Our first stop was Makurdi, where we stayed and explored for two nights. Then we made our way to Jos, this is where I saw my first waterfall ever at Assop Falls. It was indeed a beautiful sight and I guess my love for waterfalls was born that day.
When I was in the university, during a class excursion, I was fortunate to visit my second waterfall; the Erin Ijesa waterfall in Osun State. The beauty, the sight of the water dropping from a height, the surrounding rocks, and the greenery. These experiences made it abundantly clear to me; I am a sucker for waterfalls!!!
I had heard tons of raving reviews about Niagara falls and I couldn't wait to experience it in all its majesty. On my first trip to Canada in 2018, Immediately I arrived Toronto with my sister, we made our way to Niagara Falls. Remarkably, the sight was all I had dreamed of and more. There was a rainbow which sat really pretty on the sky and the color of the water was the clearest aquamarine I had seen.
I love waterfalls because they are indeed a sight to behold and a great gift of nature. From the tumbling water, and the force with which it gushes from the height, to the ripple effect of the water on hitting the mass of water below.
