Hey Travel Lover
What do you love to do when you travel? Do you easily decide on where to go and what to do?
I love to explore when I travel. That is why I always cringe when I have to make activity trade-offs due to time constraints. Oh well, the hassle of it.
My recent trip to Canada was all shades of beautiful as I got to tick off several things on my bucket list. I however had to make a difficult choice between two tourist destinations as I was leaving bright and early the following day. The choice was between a globally renowned “indoor” horticultural attraction and a zoo that featured a Polar Bear (which I would be seeing live for the first time). If you were in my shoes which would you visit?
I have always wanted to see Polar Bears as I previously missed seeing them in Singapore. Back then, ongoing renovation at the Zoo made it impossible, so I thought this was the perfect time. My decision was without any reckoning for the weather, though. Reflecting on the snow incident🫢 (Read that here), I decided to go with the indoor activity. Hard Choice made. Let’s go to The Leaf!!!
Upon arrival at the much touted attraction, it was a leafy affair, as the name suggests. At the entrance, there were warnings that it was really humid inside. Despite the signs, local girl decided to risk it and leave her mini jacket on. Worst decision ever😩. It was so hot inside I kept wishing I had worn only a tank top. I had to live with the fruit of my “strong head”.
Inside The Leaf, I saw so many species of plants including but not limited to Prayer Plant, Yellow Strawberry Guava, Chinese Hat Plant and Fishbone Prayer Plant. I also saw some ultra chic fish😉😉. Being the tourist that always asks for photos, I got some from another tourist. This time, my adhoc photographer was patient and kind enough to wait for me to smile in the humid environment.
Finally, there was the Butterfly Garden, where big beautiful butterflies emerged after passing through the caterpillar stage. The temperature here was definitely cooler than in the plants garden. I followed several butterflies to get a good shot, and thankfully I didn’t get lost🤭. It was a day well spent, and by far the warmest throughout my stay.
So Travel Lover, Do you love to explore? Do you always find it easy deciding which option to take? Would you visit The Leaf when in Canada? Let us know your responses in the comments section.

Animals or Nature?
Always a delightful read Ajalaress.
I always go for a bus or boat tour of the city to start with. For a small fare you get a ‘bird’s eye’ view of what the town/city has to offer and its national treasures. That way you have a good idea about areas of attraction to focus your visit on.
Amazing how interesting a garden visit can be. I visited Gardens by the bay in Singapore and it was a marvellous experience. Definitely worth visiting a garden any day. However I totally enjoy seeing different species of animals and how they live in their habitat.
Thoroughly enjoyable read👍🏼😊
