Hey Travel Lover.
Do you consider yourself to be stiff or flexible? Do you have a regular or random exercise routine? Have you considered the wonderful world of yoga?
20th May 2021 is a landmark date that remains vivid in my memory as a major turning point. Early that beautiful Thursday morning I had been thinking aloud while driving to work. Why am I so stiff? How can I combat this unease in my body? God when 😪? Barely two hours after I had those thoughts, my friend, Jennifer, sent me a flyer with the life transforming sentence "this might interest you".
You bet I was interested albeit totally shocked at how the universe sends answers our way. The beautiful part was, the session was to be free on the day in question. (Who doesn’t like a free taster session😌) The flyer was for a yoga class coming up the next Saturday.
Honestly, I had been interested and intrigued about yoga for a while, I just didn't know where to start from. I'll tell you three things about yoga.
Yoga is a form of exercise. Some people believe yoga is not intense enough and will not enable them achieve their fitness goals. From my enlightened perspective, that belief is not only unfounded but also untrue. When you attend a forty-five minutes’ yoga session, the amount of sweat you generate will make you think otherwise. I remember the first session with Selma that fateful day in May - May 29 to be precise - I was sweating profusely and my muscles were as stiff as ever. After surviving that session 😰, I vowed to incorporate regular yoga into my schedule.
Yoga is a conversation starter. If you’re big on networking to increase the number of “quality people” in your life, yoga is surely a great avenue to achieve that. I remember being onboard a local flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt, when I saw this lovely lady who looked very artsy 😁. She sat across from me during the flight and I couldn’t help but notice some striking things about her appearance. As we disembarked the aircraft, I spotted her mini travel yoga mat and I struck a conversation with her. We discussed the many benefits of yoga - flexibility, health, weight reduction amongst others. We also discussed the online yoga apps we were using in conjunction with our yoga instructors. We exchanged numbers and have kept in touch ever since.
Finally, Yoga is global. On my recent trip to Barcelona, I was opportune to stay in an upscale hotel that had two free yoga sessions for guests and staff every week. I attended one of the sessions, made friends with the yoga instructor and connected with one of the yogis. Call it perfect timing because I was already feeling guilty about the countless hearty meals I had consumed on that trip. I can confidently say, I lost some calories after that session 🤪
So Travel Lover, are you team stiff or team flexy? Do you have a regular or random exercise routine? Would you consider entering the wonderful world of yoga? Let us know your responses in the comments section.
Till Next Week.

I always knew yoga is beneficial, but it's great to learn about the actual benefits. Maybe I'll try it sometime
I’m seriously considering Yoga. I’ll need to look for a group to meets near me. I’m also open to recommendations for virtual Yoga instructors and groups😁
